We can’t believe that fall is almost here!  It has been a busy and fruitful summer for Hope & A Future (H&F); a quick stop by the house will confirm that.  We are now the proud owners of twelve chickens—that’s right, twelve!
Our garden, which was designed and planted by our wonderful volunteers, is bountiful and overflowing with goodness.  As a result, the dinner table here has seen a steady presence of fresh produce from the garden…and we have donated over 300 lbs of fresh vegetables to Middleton Outreach Ministry.

Looking Back:  Summer Happenings

Summer kicked off with our annual pancake breakfast.  Over 200 guests were entertained by Duke Otherwise and the Krause Family Band with guest artist Brad Duesler, while our volunteers served fluffy pancakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream.
In July, we were the featured non-profit at a Madison Mallards game.  What a great way for the community to learn about Hope & A Future!  The highlight of the night was the first pitch thrown by the dazzling duo of Rick Krause and Keith Wanta.

Looking Forward:  Development News

Our next phase of development is starting to take shape!  We presented our vision to the city.  Bill Perkins’s comments from after the meeting sums up the response, “As I looked around the table while Karin Krause, H&F executive director,  told the story of her neighborhood Grandma and the nursing home staff person whose kids were in her car while she tried to work, I swear I saw a bunch of teary eyes.  And I have been in a lot of those meetings, believe me—and that doesn’t always happen.”

This is such an exciting time for us!  Stay tuned…

Coming Soon:  Oktoberfest

“We believe that people need to help as much as they need to be helped”.  This is the living vision of Hope & A Future, and we can’t help the residents we serve without the generosity and support of the community around us.

As a way to say thank you to our volunteers and donors, this year’s Oktoberfest is being held in your honor!  Please join us for a fun night of dance numbers, German food, and Oktoberfest beer sampling!
